State Trade Inspection has checked the quality of the footwear sold in Moscow

5 thousand footwear pairs were checked. 25% of them were rejected.
The greatest number of claims from the buyers are received
for footwear sold in the footwear center at Avtozavodskaya, and
on the clothing markets "AST" and "Koptevo".
Among Russian manufacturers most of rejected footwear was produced by Moscow firm "TIKO" (trade mark "Tiko") and "Fas-design" ("Europen"),
Rostov "Amour" ("Amour"), Smolensk footwear firm "Smolmyaso",
"Relax" from Chita region ("Versus-2000"), "Karus" from Tver ("Yorker"), "Lux" from Vladimir (trade mark - "Exbut"), and "Don footwear" from the city of Donskoy (trade mark "Luca Venezia").
All the checked footwear of these manufacturers did not conform to the Russian quality standards. A little better was footwear "Patrol", the share of rejects amounted to 40 per cent. Besides, the inspectors rejected 100% of Chinese footwear checked (it was represented by trademarks "Biwa" and "Rimax"), half of all the Turkish and almost half of the Polish footwear.
Besides, the inspection showed that in spite of the wide spread opinion,
there is more good-quality footwear of Russian origin in Moscow than
high quality foreign footwear: the main part of the rejected goods was manufactured abroad.
However, in many cases it was possible to find out where this or that shoe pair was manufactured only from the conformity certificate: most Russian firms prefer to give their footwear foreign names, spelled in Latin letters. Absence of any information in the Russian language on the package was noted in 70 percent of cases - this is probably one of the most widespread violations, noted by the inspectors.
