In 1995 leather factory Balker built by the Soviet-Indian company was adjudged bankrupt. Then bankruptcy proceedings started. In 2001 the remaining property complex was sold at the tenders.
The new owners bought the equipment, reconstructed and expanded the production facilities. The enterprise is planned to reach its full production capacity gradually - in three phases.
At present manufacture of semi-finished leather item wet blue has started, which is exported to Italy, Czech Republic and other countries. 114 working placed have been created.
The reanimation of the enterprise became possible due to the program currently running in the republic, which permits to compensate from the republic's budget part of the bank interest rate provided the money is invested into development of production.
