In 2003 the Kabardino-Balkaria republic's orthopedic enterprise will start the production of special footwear for diabetics (this category of patients needs special footwear, as the disease makes their sole less sensitive and more vulnerable to being injured). This is a regional project within the framework of the federal program "Diabetic Foot". The experts of the factory were specially trained in Moscow. The footwear will be distributed free of charge, the factory will supply diabetics not only from Kabardino-Balkaria, but from Ingushetia, Chechnya and Karachaevo-Cherkesia as well.
