In January-May 2003 light industry output in Chelyabinsk region was 108.1% to the similar period of last year. The growth was largely due to several big enterprises which have their own retail network, for instance "Footwear Company Unichel", OAO "Peplos" and others. Most successful in January-May 2003 was leather, fur and footwear industry, having increased by 117.2%.
Pig number is continuously growing both in all types of farms and at agricultural enterprises: as of 01.06.2003 their number has grown correspondingly by 13.1% and 25.7% to the corresponding last year date.
