Over January-March 2003 the output, manufactured by the enterprises incorporated into Bellegprom Concern (Bellegprom accounts for 80% of the production, manufactured by the republic light industry enterprises) as compared with 2002 similar period was 101.8%, including consumer goods - 101.4%; import (over January-February) 102.7%, labor productivity (estimate) - 107.1%, export (estimate) - 104%. Over the same period Juft leather production (in kind) as compared with the same period of 2002 was 147.6%, of fur and fur garments - 137.9%.
Due to constant shortage of current assets, growing expansion of similar imported goods ( first of all - Russian made) on the Belarus market and in order to prevent stock increase of ready production at the industry enterprises in 2002 manufacture of leather footwear has been reduced. Supply of leather footwear on the republic internal market has fallen by 22.1%.
