In July the special commission of the RF Ministry of Economic Development and Trade summed up the results of the all-Russia competition "The best Russian exporter in 2002". Among the light industry enterprises in nomination "The best developing Russian exporter" the winner was ZAO "Ostashkov Tannery" (Tver region).
According to the official statistics over the results of 2002 the enterprise became the leader among the Russian leather factories according to the amount of production (almost a quarter of the all industry output), production of chrome leather increased more than twofold. At present Ostashkov Tannery exports wet blue, crust and finished leather for shoe upper. The list of clients includes enterprises from Italy, Spain, Germany, China, Turkey, and Australia. To be reminded, in the preceding years on three occasions the best exporter of the year was named ZAO "Chrome" (Yaroslav region" also producing finished leathers.
