By the end of August many European customers of Russian raw hides haven't yet begun their purchases on the Russian market. Nevertheless the prices for cattle hides seemed to be firm enough and did not go down further after the 10th of August (when new export duties came into force) as we expected. It must be noted that traders were informed about the approaching export duty increase in advance and accordingly corrected their pricing policy. Local tanners took the chance and increased their share in the Russian market of raw materials.
Pigskins' and horse hides' prices decreased. Very small quantities are exported abroad in raw.

All above quoted prices apply to uniform merchandise weighing 20 tons and more. Smaller lots may be bought at lower prices.
** CPT price also includes the cost of delivery and export duties. Usually 2-3% discount for salt and manure is offered. USD 1 = RUR 29.41
