Last month Russian raw hides market didn't see any considerable changes in prices. Supply of raw hides and skins remained high. There is higher demand (and higher prices) for bulls 12kg + and cows weighing up to 17 kg. More wet-blue hides are sold abroad (and lower quantities of wet salted hides). Calves and kips (skins weighing up to 12 kg) are still sold abroad mainly in raw.
Russian producers of finished leathers finally have slightly reduced prices for some articles, which did not enjoy good demand. It may be the beginning of further price reductions provided the prices in raw hides' market didn't go up.
New international fairs MosLeather and Mosshoes Technology, which took place last week in Moscow, didn't succeed in attracting participants and visitors. Very few local producers took part. We believe that Russian Wholesale Trade Fair scheduled for March is going to be mach more successful.
