| During last month we had a "Buyer's market". Many regular local buyers of raw material were out of cash and couldn't buy usual quantities
of hides. Because of high export duties on raw hides, nowadays hide suppliers in Russia to an even grater degree depend on situation in local
leather industry. Demand from Europe remained low. Meanwhile there are signs of renewed interest in Russian raw material expressed by some of
traditional European customers. The customers from Belourussia somewhat reduced their purchases from Russia. They say there is enough quantity of hides in their local market available at more attractive prices. Raw hides' prices in Russian local market mainly remained unchanged or have changed insignificantly. It is rumoured that Russian Government intends to totally ban exports of raw hides. We can neither confirm nor deny it but we think it is hardly probable. 26-29th of March XVIII Federal Wholesale Fair of Textile and Light Industries' Goods and Equipment was held in Moscow. This is most important fair for local leather and shoes industries. There were more than 2000 participants and more than 65000 visitors.
