| In November price increase, continuing during previous months, has ceased. Raw hides and skins prices remained quite stable. We saw somewhat
higher demand for cattle hides weighing 17-21kg and 21+. Also one could sell calfskins of special selections (very good quality) at very high
prices - up to USD 3.0 for 1st grade. Pigskins remained out of favour. As from January 1st 2003 new stricter regulations concerning "suitcase import" of shoes, leathergoods and other commodities shall come into force. As a result, in a couple of months we may see higher prices for locally produced footwear and leathergoods and, consequently, higher demand for finished leathers and raw hides. © Russian Leathernet / www.leathernet.ru |
